England’s weekly winners & losers

3 weeks to go this season- who’s making a push for the World Cup

Winners

Jordan Henderson

Came up with arguably the best performance of his career as he dominated the Roma midfield at Anfield. Henderson has endured a rough ride from fans and whilst he’s no Andrea Pirlo he is England’s midfield metronome for now.

Raheem Sterling

3 more assists in an incredible season- just think back in August people thought he’d be sold.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Timed his return to form and fitness to perfection, with Lallana struggling and Oxlade-Chamberlain Loftus-Cheek has found a late purple patch to back up his impressive England debut in November. It looks like he will be going to Russia.

Kieran Trippier

He’s had to live in the shadow of Kyle Walker’s stellar season at all-conquering City but Trippier was outstanding as Spurs ground out a key win over Watford with the cross for Dele Alli’s opener.

Will Hughes

Another impressive display driving forward a Watford midfield otherwise playing in flip-flops (not literally!) Hughes has endured a tough first season in the Premier League but few have been as impressive in the run-in.

Losers

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Poor fella- that’s now 2 World Cup’s missed for the Ox with injury.

Marc Albrighton

Sent off in a 5-0 drubbing, Albrighton has often been referred to as England’s best uncapped player, after this weekend the second half of that statement will remain intact.

Harry Maguire

Not specifically at fault but being part of Leicester’s capitulation against Palace isn’t a good look for a World Cup starter.
